Spring Maternity Session

Linsey Gallup March 20, 2017

It’s spring in Bakersfield, at the end of February the almond orchards bloomed and our landscape turned green. The rain has be amazing this year and I’m so glad I got to get out and shoot some photos before the heat hits and turns everything golden.

This expectant mom was glowing for her maternity photos. I love the photo of mom laying down and looking up at dad. How sweet is that? It shows off her growing bump and a wonderful connection between husband and wife.

This gorgeous family is expecting a baby any time now and we went out and captured some beautiful photos for them to celebrate this exciting time in their little family. We did their maternity session at the almond orchards first but big sister wasn’t feeling well and we were unable to take photos with her. I focused on mom and dad and the wonderful bond and excitement they are experiencing over the new baby.

Some time later we went out to Heart Park and did more family photos now that big sister was feeling better. With this part of their session I wanted to get a lot of family shots and focus on big sister. Big sister is adorable and informed me that once the baby is born it will be her baby.

Some of my favorite photos from this gallery are the family shot of the three of them sitting in the grass, this photo radiates the love this family has for one another. (above)

I took a little time to just photograph big sister to be, letting her play with the flowers and interact with her environment. With a few wildflowers about and a setting sun these images capture childhood innocence is a beautiful way.

I’m so excited for this wonderful family and can’t wait to meet their new baby.

Chris and Amy's Maternity Photos

Linsey Gallup February 17, 2017

I have already introduced you to my amazing friends Chris and Amy in a blog last month about their fall session. Now we get to see a little of their maternity session. While we wait, some what patiently, for baby Ethan’s arrival, (I can’t wait to meet this little guy) I’m excited to share a few of the photos from their session at the beginning of the month.

We went out to Heart Park at the beginning of February, it was stunning how green everything was. I couldn’t believe it! All three of us where just shocked and overwhelmed by the green.

Amy looked beautiful in her turquoise dress and it popped against the bright green of the grass. We had the sun come out here and there throughout their shoot. I’ve added a few of my favorite images from their session. The one of them looking into each others eyes made the list because I feel like it captures their feelings for one another and their excitement in becoming parents.

The photo of Ethan’s name across his mothers belly is one I had to add because of the map background. Ethan’s nursery is decorated in a map and adventure theme and his mom and dad can’t wait to start the adventure that is parenting.

Another of my favorites is the photograph of Chris and Amy sitting in the grass together. I personally like this one from a artistic point of view. I love the way the light surrounds them, the lushness of the grass and their happy smiling faces. These two are definitely ready to meet their little boy.

I know I’ve talked about how much fun it is to capture these huge life events for people but to do this for my friends, people that feel like family, is so incredibly rewarding and such a privilege. To have been invited to be a part of their journey and their story is an honor.

 Love you guys!

Linsey
